Subject: Re: my diary/lyrics-song book- (B12 - what good can a song do)
dear diary,
come to think of it, the next song should be my favorite of all. not
because of the melody but because i think it speaks the truth for so
many songwriters, professional or otherwise.
we can never even imagine the number of songs that have been written
that we have not heard at all. even the best-selling records only sell
so many million copies... so how many more do not hear the songs in those
records. and what about those that do not sell so many copies.
so what good can those songs written but not heard do.
title - what good can a song do
written - no recorded date: 1989-1997
melody/lyrics - silvestre j. acejas
group B song # 12
no cd/cassette demo tape
melody not remembered
lyrics:
what good can a song do
what good can it ever do
when there's no one to sing it
it can never be any good to you
the words of a song may
sound so true as we may know
when there's no one to hear them
they can never be any good to you
will someone please try
to sing any love song
someone might listen
and fall in love with you
who knows and who could say
if that someone might be
the one you'd really want
to fall in love with you
what good can a song do
when there's no one to sing it
when there's no one to hear it
it can never be any good to you
i actually changed the lyrics of this song so it would apply to any love
song in general. not just to those i've written as i had originally
intended it to cover.
and i guess the feeling i had when i wrote this song is shared by many
other frustrated songwriters who have written songs that have not been
heard of because record companies would not put them into records
because they know said songs will not sell in the market.
i think even the very best of song writers must have written other
songs that never got recorded and were heard by anyone but by themselves.
